An experiment with warm air, as this is lighter as the surrounding air, it rises, taking our balloon with it. When the air cools the balloon slowly falls to earth again. The aluminium bowl is filled with methylated spirits and this is lit to provide the lift, however this does not fly with the balloon for security reasons.
